About This Listing

2 VINTAGE SPEC FENDER CLONED BLACKFACE CIRCUITS - ‘64-‘67 BASSMAN AA864 & ‘64-‘67 AA763 TWIN REVERB —- IN A PORTABLE 1 x 12” COMBO (NOT ACTUAL FENDER MADE - but it’s too bad they didn’t make this amp regularly)

-professionally built by a certified amp tech using boutique quality point-to-point old school hand wired circuit board, with reverb tank & tube tremolo for Twin Reverb side

-2 x 6L6 power tubes for a Twin Reverb circuit instead of the usual ear bleeding & back breaking 4 x 6L6 in a 2 x 12 cab

-solid, clear pine cab with finger jointed corners for extra stability and natural classic tone

-original late 60s vintage Fender Bassman power transformer salvaged from Blackface Bassman head & extra beefy Canadian made Hammond output transformers for solid tone and headroom

-outstanding Weber 12F150 50w speaker voiced for Blackface Fenders. Don’t worry about wattage, I contacted tedweber.com and they assured me they low ball their wattage specs for their speakers. This speaker easily handles both circuits and gives a beautiful, unique Fender breakup

-speaker extension outlet switchable between 4ohms & 8ohms

-NOS vintage USA tubes (2 x Phillips 6L6WGB - these are super rare and some of the last of the old stock USA tubes Fender used in the vintage 60s & 70s amps. They also cut the power from 55-60watts down to about 40watts for an earlier breakup). These tubes are what the original Fender amps were built around and give you that classic tone you can’t get with modern amps. Also including Harma 6L6GC tubes from watfordvalves.com for louder usage at 55-60watts.

-also including a Fender footswitch for Twin Reverb side reverb & tremolo and Radial ABY amp switcher pedal - this pedal allows you to use both circuits at the same time if you want & blend them like a Marshall Plexi because of the phase switch. Really cool, full sound.

AA864 Bassman description (from fenderguru.com):

The Bassman is known for its simple, pure and raw tone. It is 50w loud with power supply and output transformers sized approx. as the Super Reverb and Bandmaster. The bass channel of the AB165 and AA864 is much mellower and deeper than the normal channel of any AB763 amps since it is voiced for bass guitars. The Bassman amps have more mids than the AB763-amps, and particularly without the reverb effect (the reverbs thins the tone) the Bassman experience is a fuller, direct and less camouflaged tone.

AA763 Twin Reverb description (but this amp has only 2 x 6L6 - same tone just not as loud as 85 watts):

The Twin Reverb is the king of Fender blackface amps. Having two pairs of 6L6, the popular and traditional two-channel AB763 circuit design, a diode rectifier and enormous transformers (power & output), it offers tons of clean headroom and volume for unmiked gigs and really big stages. Where the other Fender amps break up at around 4 on the volume knob, the Twin stays clean up to almost 6 and will hold up against heavy drummers and bass players with clean notes sharp as a knife edge.

Phillips 6L6WGB description:

These are the original small bottle American Military JAN 6L6WGB/5881 that was made for the USA Military in the mid-1980's These are Full Jan Specification which means that they are long life and superbly made with the highest grade materials. No modern day 6L6GC valve is made to this specification.

The Philips 6L6WGB has had rave reviews across the world and offers the guitarist an immediate upgrade over modern made 6L6GC types.

I am not alone in thinking that the Philips 6L6WGB is the ultimate 6L6 type for use in any Fender amplifier. Indeed Mesa Boogie owners and many satisfied customers have also commented that with this valve they have achieved the sound they are looking for.

In reissue Fender bassman, for example no other valves gives a 59 bassman the early breakup and that rich midrange twang as this American classic. The bass response is big and tight with smooth warmth. It provides all the classic Fender sounds with ease. Solo's and riffs are punchy and fat and the Philips 6L6WGB does not get muddy and fizzy under extreme saturation. In a correctly set Hot Rod Deluxe and Deville one customer said that it made his amp sing.

Weber 12F150 speaker description:

The favorite for Deluxe Reverb: (if you use no pedals for dirt and you want the speaker to break up a little): [12F150, 8 ohm, 25w, light dope] / (if you use pedals for dirt or you want the speaker to stay cleaner): [12F150, 8 ohm, 50w, light dope] Great blackface tone with ceramic punch. Replaces Chicago Jensen C12N and Oxford ceramic 12’s. 12″, 40oz ceramic magnet, 25 or 50 watts, 1-1/2″ voice coil, ribbed cone. Warm, smooth breakup, aggressive, punchy, loud.

NO TRADE OFFERS PLEASE...this is a boutique quality amp (you’d pay more for one of these hand wired circuits, let alone 2) at a steal of a price.

My apologies for the shipping rates, but it’s a bit big (in a box) & heavy and I need to insure it properly for your protection.
