1956 Gibson A-50 Mandolin. This instruments is crack free and in very good condition. Purchased from the original owner's family. This mandolin was played and loved for many years and it shows some wear. Spruced top, flamed maple back, sides and neck. It has a rosewood fretboard and bridge. Most of the binding has yellowed with age and the entire instrument has finishing checking. The tuner button have been replaced with new ivoroid buttons. Like many of these A-50 models from this era, the pickguard has warped slightly over the years. The tailpiece cover is not the original but is well aged and in my opinion, is a more comfortable for playing kidney bean shaped covered. There is some slight spooning on the frets but not enough to affect how the instrument plays. This mandolin has just had a pro set-up, the action is low and has excellent tone with new medium D'addario strings. Comes with a newer hard shell case.
