About This Listing

1970's EMS Synthi Hi-Fli w/ original foot pedals, just serviced by Rosen Sound in Burbank, CA.

I bought this from the original owner. It had never had anything done to it and, even to this day and after servicing, not a whole lot has changed internally. Most of the electrolytic capacitors were changed, power supply rebuilt, faders cleaned, components checked to make sure they were operating within spec, etc. Cosmetically, this one is nice and aside from a missing fader cap (you can get replacements directly from Robin Wood), everything is intact. The lid screws on the bottom are modern replacements, as well.

You may have seen pictures of these sitting on a stand. There were two different kinds of stands and this unit was intended for the second version that mounted to a separate base. I do not have the stand or the base, but I do have the piece that slides under the unit and affixes to the post (hey, better than nothin'!).

I've owned two of these, and in my experience, they are inherently fairly noisy. This one is no exception. All of the sounds come through and work, but the noise floor is quite present and audible and I'm not exactly sure what it might take to make it dead quiet. Perhaps they never really are! Regardless, it is a very cool "show" piece and very rare. It is also pretty neat that, according to serial numbers found on the internet, it is (supposedly) the 47th one ever built. The foot pedals are serial number 42, not really sure why they don't match but I have no reason to believe they were purchased at separate times (see above).

This is priced with room to maximize considering normal selling prices. The transforms have multiple taps and this one is wired for 117v USA power.
