Merida are an up and coming manufacturer who offer affordable guitars with very impressive specs. Constructed using a solid maple top, laminated mahogany back and sides and an ebony fingerboard, this guitar has a really robust feel of something above its price point. Aesthetically this guitar is stunning for the price, with a dark fretboard, nicely flamed maple top and a well designed headstock.
The Mahogany neck has a slim ‘C’ profile which is really nice to play. The feel of the neck is slick underhand and the weight of the neck is really comfortable. The hardware on this guitar is great with solid machine heads and a Fishman Presys Pre Amp system which gives a very accurate representation of the guitars unplugged tone.
Tonally the guitar is great with quite a bright response thanks to the maple top. The mahogany gives a nice rich and plenty of mids to the tone to dampen this brightness for a pleasing sound.
