The Shergold Masquerader SM02-SD is a new take on the iconic 70s guitar. Brought back in style for the 21st Century, the SM02-SD has been treated to a re-design courtesy of legendary British luthier legend Patrick James Eggle.
Established over 40 years, Shergold guitars were originally seen in the hands of players from top bands including New Order, Joy Division and Genesis. Now firmly back, Shergold guitars have been treated to a modern (although still with a retro vibe!) makeover by Mr.Patrick James Eggle himself.
This Shergold SM02SD Masquerader model features a solid mahogany body that is attached to a bolt-on, satin finished, rosewood (yes rosewood!) neck. The hand burnished neck is super smooth, allowing you to zip up and down the neck without any of that gloss finish tackiness with many players dislike. The rosewood neck is topped with a matching rosewood fingerboard that is adorned with unique hand-inlaid Aluminium line inlays, which are also mimicked on the top side of the neck too.
Loaded with a HSS Seymour Duncan pickup configuration, the Masquerader SM02-SD certainly delivers comes packed with plenty or power and tonal versatility. The neck position hosts a Seymour Duncan Single Coil SSL-6 , in the middle position is a Seymour Duncan Single Coil SSL-6Rw whilst at the bridge is a tappable (push/pull pot) Seymour Duncan TB-4 humbucker.
