Hey Guitar Lovers, Up for sale is a 1970’s Korean made Carlos 430 dreadnought acoustic guitar in natural finish.
I do not have an exact age for this guitar, but by all research I was able to do on the inter webs, these date between 1972-1975 Therefore, if examples are correct, this Guitar should fall into that early to mid 70’s range.
I have done my best to take many pictures as examples, but I will also try to be thorough in my description. (Big white marks in pics are just reflections from lighting)
Carlos guitars were affordable players guitars back in the day, but today have been referred to as hidden gems. I own and play high end guitars, and while I definitely can’t compare it to my HD28, I can say that this box has a ton of life to it, and with a new set of Elixers (which I will ship with it), it will have a nice boomy voice.
As with most guitars from the 70’s that didn’t become case queens, this guitar has some wear. While it doesn’t have buckle rash, it does have the typical light finish checking, puck scratching, and some dings and pick gouges. By no means was it abused, but it was played.
I’m not a luthier, but it does seem to have what looks like an ebony fretboard and bridge, or what looks like it.
Overall, this would make a great players guitar, backup, or a great campfire guitar for pickin’ our those old tunes while your dog howls.
I have done my best through pics and description to be above board and give a proper description of this Carlos 438. I found no cracks, breaks, or problems with this guy (other than a desperate need for a players setup and new strings).
