Vintage 1960s Simms Watts AP 100 100w EL34 Allen Guitar Valve Amplifier Head
These early Simms Watts AP 100 heads are truly special. This was built around 1968/1969 and has cap codes dating to 1968, along with serial number 1098. We purchased this off of the family of the original owner, who bought it and gigged it very often, hence the condition. He previously lost the Simms Watts badge but another has been added back on later. The handle has been replaced, and I believe the cabinet to have been recovered at some point too. The back panel is not original and has a cutout to the side, as pictured. Inside the components are good. It is a beast of an amplifier, and sounds truly awesome! The majority of the amplifier is original, including the set of Allen transformers. There is a quad of EL34s, of which most are a mismatch, alongside 3x ECC83s in this (1x Mullard and 2x other), giving it one heck of a sound. There have been a few light changes to the circuit board, but nothing significant. It really is a special example of this classic amplifier.
