About This Listing

Alvarez Yairi Dy98 Modulus Graphite neck

1992 Alvarez Yairi DY98 Modulus Graphite neck with the original hardshell case in good condition. It has the lrbaggs lyric acoustic/electric pickup system.

This guitar was made by Modulus Guitars San Rafael, CA then shipped to K. Yairi Guitars Gifu, Japan where the body was handmade and joined to the Modulus graphite neck. These guitars were then shipped to the states by St louis music under the Alvarez Yairi name. These guitars were played by Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead(he had a signature model Gy1 but never played a Gy1 he played the DY98 and DY99)
Only one of Jerry's actual guitars has surfaced. A 1991 custom DY98 Jerry gave to Ramrod(Grateful Dead roady) that was auctioned off for 102k at Bonham and Butterfields in San Francisco(2006) when Ramrod died. The Dy98 is an extremely rare and hard to find guitar highly valued among collectors.
