About This Listing

This is the Electro Harmonix Cathedral Stereo Reverb Pedal. It's the reverb pedal that's been on the pedalboards of Josh Klinghoffer of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Delonge of Blink 182 and Angels & Airwaves, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, Sufjan Stevens, and tons of others.

The pedal features eight different reverb modes, stereo ins and outs, and tap tempo for the pre-delay. The tap tempo switch is also a hold button similar to the EXH Freeze sustainer pedal.

Here's a rundown of the knobs:
  • BLEND: This is the wet/dry mix knob. Full counter-clockwise is 100% dry. Full clockwise is 100% wet.
  • REVERB TIME: This sets the length of the reverb decay. On the FLERB mode, this adjusts the rate of the modulation.
  • DAMPING/TONE: This is a tone knob. Turning this clockwise gives brighter wet signal. Turning it counter-clockwise gives warmer/darker wet signal. On the FLERB mode, this adjusts the resonance of the flange.
  • FEEDBACK: This adjusts the number of times that the signal is fed back into itself. Counter-clockwise is less (more dry); clockwise is more (wetter).
  • PRE-DELAY: This sets the amount of time between the wet signal and when the reverb/echo begins. It can be instantaneous (full counter-clockwise) up to a 2 second gap (full-clockwise).
  • MODE:
    • GRAIL SPRING: This is the spring mode from the classic Holy Grail reverb pedal.
    • ACCU SPRING: This is a new mode that emulates an Accutronics spring reverb tank from a vintage tube amp.
    • HALL: This emulates the natural echo of a large performance hall.
    • ROOM: This emulates the natural echo of an intimate venue/studio.
    • PLATE: This is the classic studio reverb.
    • REVERSE: This mode flips your playing backwards (like reverse tape effects) and adds reverb to it.
    • GRAIL FLERB: This is the FLERB mode from the Holy Grail reverb pedal, but with much more control over the flange.
    • ECHO: This is a digital delay with up to two seconds of delay time. Set the DAMPING at noon for straight digital delay. Turn the DAMPING counter-clockwise for warm analog delay emulation. Or turn the DAMPING clockwise for tape delay emulation. The tap tempo can also set the delay time.

This Cathedral is in good cosmetic condition. The electronics work perfectly. The pots, jacks and switches are all clean and quiet. You can power this pedal with a Boss PSA-style ac/dc adapter, or your standard 9-volt pedalboard power supply.
