Korg Sigma KP-30: An interesting vintage analog synth!
The Korg Sigma (KP-30), released in 1979 during the “Golden Era” of Japanese high-fidelity audio equipment, is a neat analog monophonic synthesizer. It’s a bi-timbric synthesizer with (1) the analog “synthe” section and (2) preset “instrument” section. Sounds are modulated by rotary controls and a multi-dimensional joystick. There are some other on-board effects like vibrato and ring modulation. One cool feature of the Sigma is that you can combine sounds from both sections for cool layering effects. The Sigma has been used by well-known artists such as Jean Michel Jarre, Rick Wakeman, and Keith Emerson.
