1 brand-new OS version 1.6 EPROM upgrade chip for the TX81Z. This is the final firmware version upgrade issued by Yamaha.

Also if requested – A link will bee-mailed to you with the TX81Z service manual and your own personal reference. I find this information to be quite useful and beneficial to have.

The actual TX81z unit is not for sale, only the 1.6 ROM upgrade chip will be supplied.

Noteworthy details about the 1.6 upgrade:

·        Before purchasing, it is best to check and see which ROM version your TX81Z is running:

·        With the TX81Z turned off, hold both Left and Right cursor buttons and turn on the TX81Z. Note the ROM version and turn off the TX81Z.

• The OS Firmware has been updated from version 1.5 to 1.6 in order to improve the following MIDI-related malfunctions.
• When a voice number parameter change message is received in Performance Edit mode, if D01 is the voice number that is received after preset voice number C32, switching is done incorrectly -- not to D01, but to i01.
• When a POLY / MONO channel mode message is received in Single mode and the basic receive channel is set to OMNI, it does not switch to either POLY or MONO. When set to any channel [1-16], no switching is done although the message has been received.
• A portamento time control change message is received; regardless of the basic receive channel setting.
• When the key assign mode is set to "altr" - [alternative] in Performance Mode, only channel controller information [MW, BC, FC, VOL, AT, PB] matching that in the basic INST 1 receive channel should not have been enabled, but other controller information is also enabled.
• When a MIDI parameter change message is displayed, including data outside the permissible range is received, the LCD displays an error message.
