Here’s a rare beauty!
This is one of the highly sought after MIJ basses. The JV series are known for their quality build. They age really well and this is no exception. The JV Squiers were Fender Japan’s first products before officially becoming Fender Japan.
All parts are original except the pick up, knobs, strap button, and most likely the pick guard. I’m also guessing the circuit is as well, but not sure.
Either way, the sound is as Fender Pbass-esque as you could get. The pup is the FENDER Original '62 P BASS Pickups. With the newer and stable pickup and the wood combination, the bass sounds big and warm. The body is basswood (probably)and the neck is maple.
The trussrod still moves in both directions. It has about a 1/4 turn to the right and the strings are currently at a very comfortable height with rarely any fret buzz.
This comes in a cream color, which you don’t see often. To be honest, I’m really impressed with the neck feel, build, and sound of this instrument. I’m letting it go since I have a Pbass that has become my main and this doesn’t get enough attention anymore.
I’ve also recorded with it and it’s a dream! I recorded with flats and it sounds almost like an upright. Check out the video (starts from 0:36)
