All TUBE Vintage Panasonic RE 784 AM FM Tube Radio JAPAN Works - restore or guitar amp project

I am putting out this used vintage mid 60s Panasonic RE 784 all tube chassis AM FM radio. This was made around 1965 as it is the original series 784. It is very mid-century modern in styling and features a real wood cabinet. The radio works, and I have done basic work on it to test it out - pots and switches have all been thoroughly cleaned and DeOxit treated. This one was not fully serviced as there is a multi-section can electrolytic capacitor that should be replaced or updated with individual caps in the chassis. Although I hooked up an antenna to it and got reception on both am and FM, with this being a 50-year-old 5 tube set-up radio(w 6th as rectifier) I would do the basic bench check on caps and resistors in there. The cab has its original finish and is in overall nice shape with a few edge dings and such. Looks overall fine but if you want to refinish it, you could. This is a great old school Japanese radio that really made Panasonic in North America. Before there was Technics, and plain Panasonic, there was National Panasonic, and this was a popular table radio. Also, for you guitar amp project hounds, this would be a heck of an experimenter platform for building a home brew practice/studio tube amp.

This was cared for in an average way and sat in the kitchen of the people I got it from for decades. I have had this one hanging around for a while and I am no longer using it or planning to work on it. It has been sitting around in my extras pile. Although It needs basic attention after 50 years, it looks cool and works.

Operation is pretty straight-forward but it also comes with the schematic so everything should be easy to figure out. It is fun, but it really is extra for me. Time to move on to a new home.
