Vintage 1960s WEM Sapphire 2-Pickup Left Handed Sunburst Electric Bass Guitar
What a beauty! This WEM Sapphire guitar is right on the cusp of being a Wilson made guitar, having owned the serial 4 away which was a Wilson! What is more, this is the rare left handed version of this classic guitar. It has a sound to die for that will not disappoint. The previous owner improved the tone of this bass by modifying the tone control to be a sweeping tone, rather than a selector type pot as original. The 2-pickups really sing, and give a great difference in tone through them both. It has been recently cleaned, serviced, and re-strung with flat-wounds by a local technician. The original bridge has been replaced for a wooden 'Hofner-style' bridge, and a period correct cover added lately. It really is a great bass guitar with plenty of mojo, and plays like a dream. There are a few dings throughout, as you can see in the pictures. Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of our description.
