Up for sale is a beautiful Guild D60, Flame Maple Archback, Dreadnought, built in 1998, in the Westerly, Rhode Island factory. This is a very rare model that does not come up for sale often. Guild records show that there were only around 300 of these built, and the people that own them, tend to keep them for a long time. You will find this model listed for sale only a few times a year. This is a very nice one, that only has a few minor cosmetic flaws that i will point out.
Many of the '90s guild models were set up with the Fishman Matrix pick up system that required a large square hole to be cut out of the side wood. Thankfully, this one was outfitted with a different pickup system that did not require the cut out, and that is a real bonus. The pickup is a factory pick up that works properly, and sound very good plugged in. It has two small control knobs mounted near the neck block.
A few of the premium features are very similar to guild's flagship model, the D55. It is a fully bound dreadnought with a AAA Sitka Spruce top, that has some nice silking. The ebony bridge is glued down tightly with no lift, and no one has shaved down the bridge. The bone saddle sits at a very healthy height, and a straight edge measurement from the fretboard to the bridge shows a great neck angle with the straight edge sitting on top of the bridge and meeting at the base of the saddle. So this guitar is light years from needing a neck reset. The D60 features an abalone sound hole rosette, an fully bound ebony fretboard, with mother of pearl blocks, with abalone insets. The headstock is fully bound with mother of pearl guild peak and G shield logo inlays. Another great feature is the Flame maple 3 piece neck. It has two pieces of flame maple with a walnut center strip. Modern day guilds have went away from the all maple body and neck models, so this is another great feature you won't find on many models. The back and sides are highly figured flame/quilted/curly maple. The back has guild's famous arch back. This added body depth and curvature, really help a normally bright maple sounding guitar, achieve balance with some added bass. Guilds are known for their great balance across each string with equal Hi's, Mids, and Lows. The D60 also comes with Guild's premium deluxe, hardshell, arch top case, that is in good condition.
There are a few negatives to point out with this guitar, but they are only cosmetic. There are several weather checks to the found on the guitar. They don't show up from every angle, and can be hard to spot sometimes, but they are there. Mainly on the Sitka Spruce Top. These are only in the Nitrocellulose finish, and not in the wood. There are a few dings, dents, scratches, scuffs, and some light swirling, that you would expect to find on a 22 year old guitar, that has been played. None really jump out at you when over looking the guitar. If you would like additional pictures of any of the flaws, please message me for them. The guitar is crack free, and repair free.
Here is your chance to own a really nice Guild acoustic. This top of the line model does not come up for sale often, and will not last long on the open market, so please message me if you are interested in making an offer on it. This is the kind of guitar you buy and keep for life. It is a professional level instrument that will serve you for decades to come.
The only guitars i buy, sell, and collect are guild acoustics. I have a number of great, vintage/used guilds for sale. I am always looking to add more guilds to my inventory, so let me know if you are looking to sell your guild, or want me to find you a specific model guild. I prefer to make my deals direct and privately, so message me if you have serious interest. Thanks for looking!!
