About This Listing

Up for sale, a 2009 Fender '57 vintage reissue Stratocaster model ST57-TX in excellent condition, with Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pickups and a custom color Black gloss finish. Made in Japan, this guitar was crafted exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and is rarely seen outside its country of origin. The guitar is lightweight and resonant at only 7lbs 10oz, and the factory-installed Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pickups match vintage spec with black fiber bobbins and cloth covered wire. These clear and chiming Fender single coils have great midrange chirp, tight bass, and a slightly aggressive overwound snap. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with fresh 10-46 strings, this Strat is ready for stage and studio use.

The maple neck has a notably deep C shaped profile with lots of shoulder, measuring .870" deep at the 1st fret and .960" at the 12th. The smooth ambered gloss finish on the profile is extremely clean and glossy, with just a sliver of natural palm wear on the fretboard edges. The original slender frets show just a touch of wear beneath the G and B strings on frets 1-9, and the frets retain their full factory height. The truss rod is responsive, the neck is arrow straight, and the guitar plays well in all registers. The guitar adheres to vintage Fender spec with a 7 1/4" fretboard radius on the 25 1/2" scale, and the nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines have the correct vintage look, turn smoothly, and hold pitch well.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the USA-made Texas Special pickups are cleanly wired to the stock Japanese wiring harness with a five-way pickup selector switch. These Custom Shop pickups are an incredible value and feature all of the hallmarks of a vintage Fender design, with black bobbins, staggered alnico magnets, and cloth-covered leads. The neck pickup cavity and neck heel have matching factory stamps, and the neck pocket has a date stamp from 2009. The vibrato has a large block for great sustain, and the unit is very responsive for smooth surfy warbles and deeper dives, jumping back into tune with ease. The plastic parts are near mint, and the hardware exhibits only light patina on the bridge saddles. The gloss finish shows some minor nicks and finish scratches across the back, light scuffing in the pick path, and only a couple minor marks behind the bridge on the top.
