RICKENBACKER 4002 ULTRA RARE
Before you read further I have 60 pictures available but can only add 25 for a listing on reverb so please contact me before making a purchase.
You are looking at the best Rickenbacker bass ever made! Made in 1978. In that time the was an ultra deluxe Rickenbacker bass with some rare features. Less than 100 made according to CEO John Hall.
It's a great player and extremely collectible, why not play something that will actually appreciate in value? This bass is in good playing condition with the wear and tear you could expect from a vintage bass from the seventies. I made a lot of pictures so there will be no surprises. Frets are in excellent condition (just had a re-fret) and electronics all work as they should. You really can’t beat a Walnut vintage finish!
On many 4002 basses the pickups were changed because the originals weren't that great.
This one is fitted with the very nice Rickenbacker HB1 pickups. The pickguard is made by Pickguardian and the Rickenbacker Electronics are soldered by Dane Wilder just like the original.
The tone pots have push-pull controls to coil tap the pickups, which enable the HB1's to sound more like the original pickups when pulled.
It has the working XLR output just like the original (the bridge pickup with no tone control). It's a special low impedance output for direct connection with recording studio control board.
This rare bird comes with a non original hardshell case and a stereo cable and everything else in the pictures.
“The features of this instrument (4002) were very exclusive. Body made of Byrdseye and Curly Maple finished in Mapleglo or Walnut. Deluxe block binding. Laminated fully bound Maple neck and head. Imported Ebony fingerboard with pearl style inlays. 21 frets on a 33 1/2 inch scale. Two super high gain humbucking pickups. Individual tone and volume controls for each pickup. Separate Rick-O-Sound stereo and mono output jack. Special low impedance output jack for direct connection with recording studio control board. These basses are as rare as hen's teeth, since so few were produced."
-a direct quote from Mr. Hall-who is really Mr. Rickenbacker.
