Gretsch 1959 Nashville Classic 2006 owned by Tommy Emmanuel

Is there anything more classic than a Gretsch with a Bigsby?  Well, maybe there is, but looking at this blonde beauty it's hard to imagine.

First and foremost, don't let the appearance of f-holes fool you.  Those are faux f-holes painted on a hollow but close-bodied guitar.

The finish is absolutely glorious with some beautiful flamed maple that is usually earmarked for USA-made pieces.  And there are only a few light marks through out.

The neck is a medium C-shape that feels natural in our hands.  Vintage stair-step tuners on the headstock give it that vintage vibe anyone who's looking at this will want to see.

The pickups have that classic Gretsch/TV Jones tone.  Love it or leave it (we're in the former camp), it's a unique sound that has fueled much of rock n roll history from George Harrison to Brian Setzer. The hardware is pretty clean, though there are some light marks on the gold tailpiece and aging on the Bigsby unit.  Oh, and that Bigsby unit is fitted with a light-gauge coil making it springy and bouncy both up and down—perfect for a sublte or over-the-top vibrato.

This is an MIJ Gretsch so collectors might not go for it.  All the more guitar for a player to grab and hold and make their own music with, though.  The Japanese factories put out some real sleeper guitars, ones that have playability and value above and beyond the price tag.  Plug it in and you'll know what we mean.
