This extremely rare Gibson Bossa Nova (Serial #908967) was purchased from Cotton's Music in Nashville. Only 5 Gibson Bossa Nova specimens were ever made. This particular one was built as a prototype for Jerry Reed in the early 1970s.
This guitar is unlike almost every other nylon string guitar there - a larger dreadnought body with a cutaway but a neck width, fretboard radius, slotted headstock and bridge usually seen only on classical guitars. Appropriately enough, it is currently set up with nylon strings.
This particular guitar had an internal contact pickup installed under the bridge at some point, though there are no external controls for it. The endpin has been converted to an input jack.
This guitar has extensive finish checking all over the body, but especially on the sides. There is no structural damage or repairs, and it remains a very playable instrument that sounds good for...you guessed it: bossa nova.
Plush-lined hardshell case included.
