Pono MT Mahogany Tenor Ukulele
The MT is a fairly simple tenor with less "frills" than others. The tone and playability are where it's at with this model. And the new look is sharp! The construction and finish is very clean, with a transparent smooth satin, almost semi-gloss, natural finish. If you want a good look without it being shiny, this may be the right uke for you. The ebony at the bridge, fingerboard, and headstock, and even the black buttons on the Grover tuners follow the two toned theme with mahogany being the other wood. This is Honduran solid quarter sawn mahogany, a quality wood. The superior acoustic qualities are apparent. Many have gigged and recorded albums with this model.
The Pono MT has a bone nut and saddle, Grover geared tuning keys, and a dual action truss rod for adjusting the neck. But just looking at the "specs" won't really tell you how good an ukulele is. The great thing about this instrument is the sound and feel.
A key feature in all of the Pono tenor and baritone models is the dual-action adjustable truss rod. This is used to stabilize and adjust the lengthwise forward curvature, also called relief, of the neck. It can be adjusted from inside the soundhole with the provided allen wrench. This is something you will probably not need to adjust. But over time and with humidity changes it is a very useful option to have, and it is a very easy thing to adjust.
