While not as well known as some of the other Gefell microphones, the m990 is truly one of their best. Wonderful depth and detail without harshness. It isn't overly colorful nor is it bland or clinical. I've never understood why it isn't more well known.
I'm the original owner and have well cared for this mic in my smoke-free/pet-free home studio. I replaced the tube about a year ago with a NOS Mullard (EF86) which sounds fantastic and is very quiet - this is one of the quietest tube mics i've owned.
Most of my work has migrated to mixing so I'm purging unused gear for that purpose.
