Serial # 211 is a 2004 Monteleone Radio Flyer that was commissioned by Robert James Waller, author of "The Bridges of Madison County" and numerous other novels.  This is an exceptionally fine instrument in every dimension - quality, sound, function and beauty.  The top is carved, bookmatched close-grained spruce; the back is carved, bookmatched curly maple with fine ribbon curl; the neck is a one-piece carved curly maple creation with a fine profile and notable figure; and the sides are cut and bent curly maple with two Side-Sound holes in the upper bass bout.  The fretboard, bridge, pickguard, and tailpiece are created from Macassar ebony, and the headstock inlays are pearl and abalone.

Body width at the lower bout is 18", and the body depth is a very comfortable 2-7/8".  The body has a rounded Venetian cutaway, and the top is X-braced.  The top also features a single oval sound hole that combines with the two side sound holes to product  beautiful sounds of chords and single notes that ring true all along the entire fretboard, a design of John's that is unique among contemporary luthiers.  When played  gently, the individual notes and chords sound lush and clear; when pushed or played hard the chords and notes bloom with clarity and volume.  The guitar also comes with its Cedar Creek hard case covered in faux alligator, a beautiful Monteleone Grand Stand that John created from various studio woods, and a fine padded case cover.

John's instrument list is closed and extends out to three years.  This beautiful instrument is available now for anyone who wants one of the finest acoustic guitars ever created.
