About This Listing

The Guild “Contemporary Series” of guitars were produced in the Tacoma WA factory during 2007. This was before Fender (Guild's owner at the time) decided to move production to China and switch to the GAD Series. The Contemporary Series incorporated a bolt-on neck similar to what is used today by Taylor. Only choice top grade woods were used on these guitars and very few were produced, making unplayed and mint examples nearly impossible to find.

The CO-2 is an orchestra-size guitar based upon Guild's vintage F-30 body style. Guild went with a solid red spruce top, and mated it to solid mahogany back and sides, and an ebony fretboard. The neck is mahogany and is without the typical cost cutting “scarf joint” that has become nearly ubiquitous these days. Appointments are all perfectly executed, with flawlessly applied bindings, rosette and inlays. Clearly, this is an exceptionally well-built guitar and one which was built to be passed on from generation to generation.

The Guild CO-2 acoustic features the Guild Graphite Neck Block System combined with traditional building techniques for exceptional tone, playability, and longevity. The Neck Block System was designed for more sustain and better clarity, and these qualities are strengthened even further by genuine a bone nut and saddle. The pure, rich tone of all solid woods will only improve with age, thanks to a thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish that allows the wood to age naturally, while still providing the needed protection to make the Guild CO-2 guitar road-worthy.

Included with your guitar is the correct Guild Premium hardshell case. Made by TKL in Canada, this is a case of the highest quality and fits this guitar perfectly. A guitar this good deserves nothing less.

This specific guitar has no player's wear at all. It was languishing in a warehouse for several years. Guild was owned by Fender when this was made and Fender has since sold the brand to Cordoba. So, the manufacturer's warranty does not apply. This instrument looks perfect with the exception of a tiny scuff near the low "E" tuner, which happened at the factory when it was first strung. This inconsequential mark can be seen in the final closeup.

I did not do a setup on this guitar...I couldn't find a fret that wasn't perfect. I did put on a new set of S.I.T. Phosphor Bronze strings gauged .012 to .054.
