Beautiful Ibanez Artist AS-50, Vintage 1981, one-piece mahogany neck!

 Here is an Ibanez AS-50 “Artist” guitar made in 1981. What a cool guitar. It's like an es-335 but the body is just a bit smaller (but not as small as a es-339). These are some of the best and most versatile guitars Ibanez ever made. There's a bit a cult around Ibanez semi-hollows built in the early '80s. They are highly sought after by professional guitarists like Ben Monder and others.

This period of the early 80s is considered by some to the be best Ibanez ever made, also known as the “Golden Era” by Ibanez fans (made entirely in Japan, by the way.)

 Nick-named the Signature model because of the hand-signed label inside the F-hole… like the early George Benson models. This has the original Super 58 pickup in the bridge and had the original pickup in the neck position also (doesn't say Super 58 but is original). I put a Virtual PAF in the neck (please see photo), but if you prefer the original Ibanez pickup I can include it. In that case, you would have to solder the wires. Tuners were changed years ago to Schaller. The case is a hard shell Yamaha which fits the guitar quite nicely. 

The guitar plays great all the way up the neck with low action. It's recently been professionally re-fretted with medium jumbo frets by Seth Mayer; top L.A. guitar tech. No fret wear at all. The string action has been set up and bridge intonated. The neck is mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard; 24 3/4 inch scale length. Condition is very nice for a guitar from 1981. Yes, there are signs of use, but never abuse. 

**Please Note: A few people have asked about the two small holes next to the bridge. Years ago, the former owner installed a Roland midi pickup; thus the two holes. The midi pickup has been removed and the holes are not visible when someone is playing the guitar.
