About This Listing

This listing is for Version 1...
8 output, MV8-OP1 compatible analog card, for Roland MV-8000 / MV-8800.

There's also a Version 2. 8x output card on a separate listing.
Differences between Version 2 and Version 1.
Version 1:
- 50% factory assembled. I still have to perform 50% manual assembly.
- DACs are AK4396, from the same family of DACs used in MV-8000/8800.
- Output path follows original Roland design with output capacitors (AC coupled)
- Version 1 costs more because there's more manual labor, soldering, assembling involved

Version 2:
- 70% factory assembled. Less manual labor for me
- DACs are PCM5100A. Latest 32 bit capable DACs from TI/Burr-Brown
- Output path are DC coupled, eliminating output capacitors
- Output volume slighter louder than main outs

***NOTE***
Version 2 isn't meant to be better than Version 1. It's just a different approach. I made Version 2 mainly because I won't have to perform as much manual soldering and hand assembly.

youtube demo:   (the demo video shows my previous 6 output card. I will find time to upload video of the 8 output card later)
I cloned the analog part of MV8-OP1 a few months back. At the time it had 6 outputs just like on a MV8-OP1. It was very fatiguing to solder all 10 PCBs by hand and I said I wasn't going to make another batch.

I continued to receive messages from the community asking whether there will be more available. So I started talking to other factories, and found one that was willing to make them in small volumes and perform the SMT of common parts (surface mount tech, as in factory machines will solder the components), like the resistors/capacitors/logic ICs...etc. That means 50% of the soldering could be done at the factory, and I only need to solder the remaining 50% by hand. This time I found slimmer connectors, and could fit 8 outputs to the board.
So here it is. Same design as in previous version. DACs are AK4396, from the same family of DACs used in the original MV8-OP1.
New & (50%) hand assembled. Tested in my MV-8000.
Installation is simple. One ribbon cable to connect. The ribbon cable only goes in one way. I have marked out the ribbon cable connector on the mainboard in one of the pictures. Comes with the ribbon cable as shown.
Shipping worldwide flat rate, excluding Africa.

Please be advised that the card requires a few hours of manual assembly and soldering by me, and I don't have them pre-made, so I can only ship a few days after an order is placed. I also put each card through a burn-in process overnight (typically 8-12 hours), to ensure they will work reliably when shipped. Please be patient after payment is made, and allow me to assemble and fully test your purchase before shipping.
