The purpose of this is to clarify some things about the "Ramones" model that was built by semie moseley around 1990 era. There were no prototypes built. Mosrite never had a "custom shop" and that joke at ed roman does not count.
I spoke with john at a show in nashville in 1990 right after he got the white one (he received the black one later at different show). It featured a "slab" body with slightly rounded edges-no german carve. A vibramute like tailpiece with no place for arm-it was a pretty rare stop tailpiece. At the time his was the only one-I contacted semie and asked him to build one for me-I picked it up in 1991 and when the Ramones played the Bijou here in Knoxville I took it to show John and he flipped. Said it was the only one other than his white one he had seen. I know of at least one other the same color as mine but it has a german carve body-so from my research I show a total of 4. None were built exactly the same either. Mine has a slab body without any rounded edges. I got acquainted with john due to my Ventures II guitar that I showed him back in 1981 at a show at the agora in atlanta. This guitar has the signed tags naming the model and serial-tags are signed by johnny ramone and semie moseley. This is a true Ramones model and not a Victory III which were very similar.
So do your homework and be careful out there-there is some misinformation about these guitars. If a "prototype" that was not made by semie and is a "parts" guitar has an asking price of 6000.00 than I put the value of the real deal-mine-at 20,000.00-lol-and it is not for sale. Update: 2/17/2020 Found another one-as says it was owned by JR. There is also a nice website that focuses on the kater mosrites and mine is listed in the DB as a Ramones model. Do a google image search " denmark street guitars ramone mosrite" and you will see the white one.
Do Google search for "mosrite victory" and you will stumble across the website for "mosrite usa the last decade" full of informative information on these rare guitars.
