*EDIT to add info that I've been asked for:
-The guitar weighs 8.6 lbs.
-The neck is a little bigger than Gibson 60's. Approx .85" at first fret
-The guitar is extremely balanced on a strap and has no neck dive
-OHSC is in very good shape, especially for it's age...no issues at all
-Added a pic of the hairline crack from the fretboard separation repair
Up for grabs is my 1980 Yamaha SA-2000. This is a ton of guitar for not a lot of dough. You'll be hard pressed to find another 335 type of this quality for the money.
These were made in the Matsumoku factory which was outdoing Gibson at the time in the late 70's and early 80's. Craftsmanship is excellent...the guitar plays and sounds wonderful.
The frets are in good shape, the original pickups sounds amazing. Beautiful ebony fretboard. Comes w/ OHSC in good shape as well as the original pick guard and owners manual. The triple binding is in excellent shape which is rare w/ these Japanese guitars many of which have a common binding deterioration issue.
This a players guitar ready to gig.
There are a couple imperfections:
There's a ding on one of the corners of the headstock...see pic.
There was a fretboard separation at some point in the guitars lifetime which has been professionally repaired. The only evidence of that at this point is what looks like a finish crack on the top of the neck near the nut...I thought it was some sort of finish crack and took it to my tech. He could tell it was due to a fretboard separation in the past and said the repair was well done. This issue is purely cosmetic at this point and has no impact on anything functional.
There's also some tarnishing on the gold hardware and pickup covers as you can see in the pics.
The main cosmetic issue is this cloudiness or hazing to the finish. It's hard to photograph and from ten feet away it's pretty much not even noticeable. It's hard to describe but there's this clouding / hazing to the burgundy finish. It's purely cosmetic but it's there and I'm considering that in my price.
