Vintage Takamine F-385, 12 String Acoustic, MIJ, 1974, Natural

I love the 60s and 70s Japanese acoustics. In my opinion, they are a tremendous value for the money- 40 to 50 year old aged wood sounds amazing!

This is a 1974 Takamine F-385  12 string acoustic guitar, made in Japan, in very good shape. It is also one of the "lawsuit guitars" because Takamine copied Martin's headstock and logo design (but there never was an actual lawsuit, Martin sent a cease-and-desist letter and that was that).

This guitar has aged beautifully. It is a laminated spruce top with mahogany back, sides and neck, and a rosewood fretboard. This is a loud guitar with terrific sustain, with a full, rich, well balanced sound- plenty of highs and lows.

It has 3 flaws. There are a few marks and slight discoloration below the bridge (see pics), and the bridge itself is missing the small round pearloid dot covering one of the bridge screws- nothing that affects the bridge or sound. There is a small hole next to the neck joint where a strap button used to be. And lastly, the neck heel was jarred at some point because the finish around the back of the heel is cracked. The end of the heel had a very slight lift to it (could slide a piece of paper in about 1/4 inch), which I corrected by getting some Titebond in there and clamping it for 36 hours. This did not affect the neck or action at all, even though the finish is still cracked. In fact, I will guarantee this neck heel repair for 30 days after purchase and refund the full purchase price (buyer pays return freight).

I did a full setup on her. Cleaned frets and fretboard, adjusted saddle and nut, tightened tuners, new strings, polish. Action is very good at 4/32nds at 12th fret on both high and low E (3/32nds is best). 

Does not come with a case.
