This is a left-handed 1959 Les Paul Special. By all accounts, only about 10 of these were built, and all of them were by special order. The body and neck are mahogany, and the fingerboard is rosewood.
This guitar was purchased used in NYC in 1984 and has not changed hands since.
Everything on the guitar is original apart from the machine heads, and the original plastic Gibson machine heads were replaced by chrome Schallers. The screw holes (from the original tuners) are visible in one of the included photos.
The finish is in great shape, both on the front and on the back. There are a couple of small dings / dents on the front of the body, and some small spots where the lacquer finish has started to peel. There’s also some very light belt buckle rash, but nothing that’s taken any finish off.
There are a couple of very small but not significant dings / marks on the back of the neck but the finish is not broken.
Comes with a fitted Calzone road case!
