This unique guitar amplifier is a refurbished and modified Akai/Roberts reel-to-reel tape deck amplifier. Care was taken to tailor the sound for clean and distorted electric guitar tones, and the results are sublime. The Monkeymatic Black Butte features one 12AX7 preamp tube and one 6BQ5 (EL84) output tube and generates 2-3 watts into 4 or 8 ohms.
With its single Tone control and fully present mids, this amp sounds Tweed when clean, Plexi with gained up, and Tweed again when dimed. Check out the demo!
This amp is housed in a custom built, 1/2" finish-grade plywood cabinet, covered in road-worthy vinyl.
Please note: the VU meter lights up, but the needle does not move during operation.
