I'm the 2nd owner of this Gibson Thunderbird IV non reverse bass. It was purchased new in 1968. Gibson records show only a total of 31 non reverse Thunderbird IV's were shipped in 1968. The original owner stated it fell off it's stand at rehearsal suffering a cracked headstock and had the headstock repaired that same year. The repair is solid and not going anywhere. This bass plays fantastic with low action and has that classic Thundurus T-Bird Growl. Currently strung with round wound strings and  the frets are in good shape .The mahogany body shows some belt buckle rash from its first owner who was just 15 years old when he made the purchase .There is a small chip in the pickguard you can see in the photos. When I asked about the black plastic between the bridge and tail piece the previous owner said it was there when he purchased it new. I've never took it off or questioned it as it appears to be stock. I have a 64 Reverse Bird with similar black plastic under it's tailpiece that's original. The tail piece cover was removed by it's owner as it restricted his picking hand and misplaced early on. Although not in the photos I have a bridge cover that I will include in this sale. This is a solid bass playing bass with exceptional sounding original pickups. The bass comes with a  home made hard case the previous owner made. It will be boxed and professionally packed. All Sales Are Final so ask any questions and I will answer them best I can.
