- These are notoriously finicky and 40 years old, so please be aware it may develop the need for minor tweaks or adjustments after it endures shipping, and/or when you dig into it and/or attempt to use it regularly. Perfection is not to be expected. Some degree of mechanical understanding and tinkering work is part of dual ownership.
- I've personally shipped nearly 50 turntables of all types to date without original packaging, with success. It will be packed correctly, with time and care.
- Condition notes:
- Includes single play spindle shown. No other spindles or accessories are included.
- Dust cover has some minor scratches and swirls, but no cracks or serious chips or functional damage. This cover is not hinged and does not allow room for 33s underneath - so it's designed to be removed entirely and placed off to the side when the machine is in use.
- The current SHURE needle still plays records well, and I had no fear of running it on my records. It will of course need to be replaced eventually - the choice of replacement will be left to the next owner. I don't guarantee the life span of the current needle.
- The machine has been running on and off for over a week in my work area, with various 45 and 33 records prior to this listing. Machine currently runs at the correct speed, works great using manual operation - and the auto return functions are also operating the vast majority of the time.
- With automatic operation, it does seem to "miss" the start cycle and set down by the cradle on rare occasion, primarily with the 7" record setting. It may need a minor adjustment of some sort to make it 100% perfect. (There aren't any missing "steurpimpels" on this Dual model. It's a metal friction plate vs a spring-loaded plastic friction plate, and it might just miss on occasion due to the design.)
- The stop cycle never misses, and the auto return never misses. The motor is good. The idler wheel is good.
- Produces clean sound without any abnormal rumble or hum.
- Cue control raises and lowers the arm.
- With auto operation the arm sets down the majority of the time, in the right place on 33's and 45's, and 10" records.
- All parts on the underside are clean and moving correctly
- (Plastic) base (plinth) is in nice condition. Some extremely minor marks or scuffs may present on close inspection.
- Multiple play feature was not tested due to lack of the multiple play spindle. The parts underneath that actuate this do move freely as they should however, but as these dual machines go, an adjustment of some kind may become necessary with actual use of the feature.
