Bought this cheap from my brother in the late 70s. To this day he claims I ripped him off...and I guess I did ๐. But in all fairness, he did tell me it was a 1967 - which it is NOT, itโs a 1973 (serial number 373438). The pickups were also shot, so I replaced them with two single coil DiMarzio pickups back in 1980 or 81... he also told me someone at Woodstock played this guitar...which he couldnโt prove and besides unless he was a time traveler itโs impossible...Woodstock was in โ69....so yeah, I donโt feel bad at all about having taken advantage of my brother...
Overall the guitar is in great shape. It has a few nicks and shows some wear on finish from heavy use over the years. The DiMarzios I put in scream...and still sound great after all these years. I also replaced the tailpiece way back when (the original tremolo plate is still there) because I hated when a string broke and the entire guitar would go out of tune. Unfortunately did not keep the original tailpiece or pickups. At that young age wasnโt thinking about future guitar value, was only thinking about playability.
Like all the other guitars I am selling, just had this set up, had new strings put on, had electronics checked and any loose wiring fixed. Pickup switches work fine. Guitar is fully functional and sounds great. I love the tone and playability of the Mustang (also have an all original โ65 in Daphne Blue which I occasionally gig with..but not looking to part ways with that one quite yet).
I think I still have the original case, but it has seen better days. Someone painted a rams head on it way back and itโs a bit beat up. If I can find it will post image of that and will include the case as well if you want, if not will include a nice Summit gig bag (see picture)...your choice.
Lower 48 USA only on this one, sorry no international. Message me with any questions. Only keeping this posted until Jan 25 then if not sold will delist and not make available again. Thanks for looking!
