Straight out of the box you will be struck by the impressive smooth Natural Satin finish and striking wood grain of the solid Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. The LSS-2 feels so comfortable on your lap and the neck and body are exceptionally well weighted. You can tell from the weight that it is an instrument of high quality although it is not so heavy that it is a burden to play when standing up.
The term Solid-Top refers to the solid piece of wood that is used during construction to make the face or "top" of the guitar. As time goes by, the wood ages and develops, and it's sound reproduction abilities increase and the sound and tone of the instrument will become even fuller and warmer.
The tone and sound of the LSS-2 is already impressive, with solid bass tones and clear crisp highs and overall excellent projection. Increased sustain is achieved by the addition of a recessed bridge that puts the bridge pins further below the saddle for an increased brake angle. Die-cast chrome machine heads ensure you stay in tune. The construction of the LSS-2 is completed with Scalloped X Bracing with two Spruce Tone Bars.
Another outstanding feature of the guitar is the neck profile, with a harder "V" profile at the start of the neck which makes fingering chords exceptionally comfortable as the neck fits perfectly to the contour of your hand even when playing the most complex of chords. The hard "V" profile softens quickly as you continue down the frets towards the body, playing any position on the neck is an absolute dream.
The LSS-2 comes fitted with D'Addario EXP Long Life strings that really do make this guitar sing.
