About This Listing

This is a beautiful, hand-hammered vintage K made in Istanbul. I'm re-listing it after a previous buyer canceled the purchase.

The stamp appears to be the Old Stamp 2A, which dates it to the late 1940s. It has nice stick definition overtop of a dark, subdued wash. The bell sings out clearly, the bow gives a stick sound that will cut through the mix, and playing it at the edge gathers thunder with a warm, dark wash. It's great for both jazz and rock. I've weighed it on two scales and gotten two separate weights: the first is 2,360 grams, and the second is 2,465 grams. The second weight is from a more sensitive scale and is probably more accurate.

I've owned this cymbal for 25 years and cared for it lovingly. It's in excellent condition: no cracking, and only the tiniest hint of keyholing. There's a bit of tape residue on the bow, left by a previous owner, which doesn't affect the sound. I'm sure it's easily removed but I don't want to disturb the patina. It really is a beautiful example of one of the world's most sought-after cymbals.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
