This was a custom order H-555 in 2004 through Wolfe Guitars in Florida. The “AAAA Ultra” maple top, matching AAAA Almondburst maple pickguard and mahogany neck were the major special order upgrades and they are beautiful! (but don’t miss the binding-with its double black stripe on white detail). The headstock and fret marker inlays also are not stock, and appear to be from the Millenium series. The Suhr SSV pickups are installed with push-pull tone pots which switch the pickups from parallel to series wiring. This gives you slinkier, “single coil-like” tones when activated. You can go from full-on classic semi-hollow humbucker tones to slinky, quacky light and bright tones, making this a seriously versatile guitar.
The guitar is in immaculate condition. It was recently set up with .10-.46 strings, and there is plenty of fret still on the guitar. According to Heritage, the neck is a “medium C” profile, with a 12” radius and 1 & 11/16” nut. Very comfortable. It plays, feels and looks great. The only thing that keeps it from being dead mint is (oddly) the white binding material on the neck heel has discolored a little, absorbing some of the color of the plush lining of the OHSC.
The guitar comes in its original case, which is in excellent condition. It also comes with the original paperwork. I love this guitar but have too many 335-style guitars. My wife picked her favorites for me to keep because I couldn’t decide. I’ll miss this beauty, but someone will be getting a seriously great instrument.
