The Guitar

This guitar is truly beautiful, one of the best instruments to come out of Bedell's shop in Bend, Oregon. While the appearance is not subtle, the sound is nothing short of dynamic perfection

The instrument has been used for songwriting, and has been a lovely conduit for emotional expression, always giving back more than I intended.
It has always been played in & stored within a humidity controlled environment. The fretboard has been freshly oiled and the action dialed-in by a local and well respected guitar tech within the NYC area.

But what's it sound like when you actually play?

While the body does feature many modern appointments, the sound is reminiscent of the warm classic round sound associated with the folk movement. So if you're looking for the classic tones of Dylan, Cash, and those they inspired - please look no further. That is not to say by any means that the guitar lacks in the projection department. Despite it's more accommodating body depth, thanks to the cocobolo & adirondack this guitar can dish out beautiful bell tones to suit all your emotional and rock worthy needs. As a note, I prefer to use light gauge strings in spite of the dreadnought body. I've found that paired with the scalloped x-bracing, the top resonates right in my favored territory for dynamic yet forgiving responsiveness both for fingerstyle and with a pick.

The question I always wonder when I'm shopping on Reverb, So if this is so great then why are you selling it?
I recently inherited a long held family acoustic, and am downsizing my acoustic collection as times are a bit tough and that guitar holds far more sentimental value than any new one ever could.
This guitar deserves to be played and enjoyed by others who are looking to bring a new work of musical excellence into their guitar family, or those looking to invest in something that can stay in a family for generations (given the eventual increasing CITES restrictions on cocobolo, it's only bound to increase in value if taken care of properly)

Modifications: Out of personal tone preference the bone saddle has been switched out for a Graphtech one. After A/B'ing the two options, I found that the Graphtech does a better job of not getting in the guitar's way, whereas I've found bone saddles on premium guitars tend to do more harm than good when it comes to just letting the instrument speak.  Alas, doubt it really makes that much difference either way :)

From Bedell,

We did it! We have taken the densest tonewood – it actually sinks in water – and found magic music wood. Cocobolo is twice the density of mahogany so when guitar builders use it to the same dimension, the instruments are heavy and not responsive. We have sanded our backs to a specified weight achieving a frequency response that has proven to be incredible. Maybe even more robust than Brazilian rosewood which is in the same species family. Our Revolution Dreadnought has a huge sound, dynamic bass, surprising sustain…it just sounds and looks beautiful.

The hard rock maple neck is also part of the magic. Hard maple is significantly denser than Honduran mahogany. With the compound taper dovetail neck joint connecting the one-piece maple neck to the cocobolo body -  the sound energy is alive.

To top it off, we selected an old-age stiff Adirondack spruce top to drive the sound. Of course the tonewoods are Hand Tuned so the frequencies of the back are several half steps higher than the top and the bracing and tone bars have been carved to make sure the entire surface is tuned to the same frequency throughout.

The Revolution is an incredible sounding dreadnought. Additionally, the top and neck burst accentuate the dynamic coloring of the cocobolo and the turquoise accents are just right.
