About This Listing

Here's a vintage axe straight from our friends in Sweden, a Hagstrom H I or F-11 Model 1 from their 1960's era of Stratocaster-type models, having a Lucite molded top & a black vinyl covered back. This axe was made in Sweden during the early days of Hagstroms' guitar production between 1962 and 1966 and features the "tuxedo look" with a black finish and white pick guard and a bolt-on neck. Neck was considered by this company to be "the fastest neck in the world", which was accomplished by using an  H- shape "expander stretcher" truss rod. This assembly technique allows these Hagstrom necks to remain true to this day! The 22-fret rosewood fingerboard is in amazing shape considering the age of the guitar.

The whammy bar is a replacement which we ordered from Hagstrom in Sweden to complete the pro set up & repairs on this axe. There are 2 original, single coil pickups that are scorching hot with an on/off switch for each along with a mute/kill switch for all. The guitar has all of its original hardware with a tone selector and a volume knob & also features the original rosewood bridge and aluminum saddle.

All in all, this axe is in great shape and ready to be played after being manufactured before man ever landed on the moon!

• Serial number: 6392057 (on rear chrome neck plate, although there seems to be some confusion regarding this number)
• Made In Sweden (1962-1966)
• Solid body
• Original open-gear tuners w white plastic buttons
• 22 fret bound rosewood fingerboard
• Three screw bolt-on neck
• 2 original, very loud output single coil pickups
• Original rosewood bridge and whammy assembly with an original equipment replacement Hagstrom whammy bar
1 volume control knob, 2 on/off pickup switches, 1 tone control switch, & 1 mute switch; instrument includes a non original gig bag as this was purchased without any type of case.

All of our instruments sold are in complete, working condition. This instrument was professionally inspected, repaired if necessary & given a pro set-up by one of our favorite luthiers/guitarist/composer/teacher & fantastic all around human being as well as the co-founder of April Mae & The Junebugs, Dave "Catfish" Fecca of Dave Fecca Guitar Repair located in Moorestown, this axe is ready to rip!

Instrument is in excellent condition, cosmetically & electronically, in our opinion. The original Hagstrom decal is in good shape on the head stock of the guitar, yet the Roman numeral "I" either is worn off or was never on this head stock.  There are very light scratches on the pick guard and on some of the finish around the edges of the guitar. There are also some scratches on the original vinyl back of the guitar. All things considered, very good to excellent condition for a 50+ year old guitar. Minimal repairs were done to get the guitar in full working order.

Body is 39 1/8" long x 12 1/2" wide x 1 3/4" deep; neck is 18 3/8" long x 1 5/8" wide at the 1st fret, 2" wide at the 12th fret, & 2 1/8" wide at the 17th fret.   The nut width is 1 1/2".

Guitar weighs in at a very comfortable 6 lbs, 10 oz.

This instrument is ready to play in any capacity the player wishes. This instrument would give a great deal of pleasure to a collector, a player, or a professional.
