Stevie played his amps cranked and preferred a little cleaner sound from the front end allowing you to hear more power tube breakup. This kit uses a JJ Electronic 5751 for V1 which is in-between an ECC81 and an ECC83S in gain, a current balanced ECC83S for V2. A real nice combination!
The power tubes are a premium matched pair of the JJ Electronic Big Bottle 6CA7's. The JJ 6CA7's have the harmonic complexity of an EL34 in the upper mids and highs and the deep low end of a 6L6. It's as close to mixing an EL34 with a 6L6 in one bottle as you can get. These tubes have round and natural sounding highs with thick low-mids.
Unlike other tube venders who charge for low noise tubes, all our tubes meet rigorous tests for low noise, microphonics and nine additional tests.
