About This Listing

Here is your rare opportunity to own a vintage 1965 Cameo acoustic guitar, made in Holland. It is in very good condition and plays great. This still has its original nitro-cellulose finish. Pull this out at a gig or practice for REAL vintage mojo. Own the guitar style that so many legends likely learned on.

SETUP INFO:

Includes a free medium low setup (as shown in photo I can get it to approx 0.050" at the 12 th fret as a "low setup"...however most acoustic setups are medium low at 0.060" to 0.070" and medium at 0.070" to 0.080"--- I will adjust it to  buyer's preference). It was restrung with Dunlop Acoustic Extra Lights (0.010 to 0.045 in. a.k.a. "size 10's" -- (free setup/ restring is a $49 value). This cool design has an adjustable neck angle by simply removing a hole cover in the neck shank and turning a screw in the neck heel and one at the 17th fret (under feet marker white dot)!  Heel adjustment screw is under spring tension.  I wish all acoustics were this easy to setup!! It is presently setup with medium high string height at 0.060"  between the bottom of the string and the 12th fret. The frets are great and it plays great! This is a flat top (soundboard) with an arched back.

Special Philosphical Note to first time vintage guitar buyers:
In the event you have never seen, played or owned an older guitar or vintage guitar: this was made in 1965 (probably before many of you were born). Computer controlled machinery (i.e. CNC technology) was not used to mass produce very precision parts- they were produced using traditional machinery and hand fitted/assembled.  Engineered to be adjustable since the parts were not made with the incredibly tight tolerances that even cheap guitars are made with today. Builders used their talent and skills to ensure that all fits were within good general tolerance and playability. This guitar is well made- however- "it is what it is"- a 55 year old starter guitar. Like a 55 year old car-it feels, sounds and handles just a bit differently from a product made 6 months ago on modern multi-million dollar machinery. It plays very good for a 55 year old starter guitar. Same feeling of owning a vintage car- cant beat a modern car but cool for what it is. I have done hundreds of setups to varying customer specs. This is setup to medium low action (which is what the majority commonly use- and a minority of players use higher or lower action requirements). I have setup many for working musicians with costly guitars (and all other price ranged) boutique and vintage guitars. If you want perfection and higher performance at a low price...please go buy a new $150 Jasmine S35 acoustic guitar (designed by Takamine for KMC Music many years ago). It offers amazing sound, feel, modern good looks  and maximum value.
If you want a neat 55 year old that looks, sounds and plays as good as it would have in 1965- this is a great guitar. It is not a vintage Gibson, Fender, or Martin (worth tens or hundreds of thousands)- it is what it was meant to be- a nice starter guitar from 1965..lol.
