Here's the story. This was Gerry Beckley's guitar for over 20 years of the band America. I don't know what tours or records it's on, although I did buy this personally from him in 1995. Back in 1974, several well known guitar makers worked at String's n Things in Memphis. They took 6 Les Paul Standards, added cutaways, plugged the original pickup switch cavity, moved the pickup switch and spliced in a new piece of matching binding when they added the cutaway. I got the story from one of the guys who modded these. Not going to name him so he doesn't get bothered. Three of the people that ended up with one were Pat Travers and Ace Frehley and this one to Gerry. I can't remember the other three. The serial number is 171760 and there were 2218 made according to Mandolin Bros music in Manhattan that dug out the info for me, since it was hard to nail this time in Gibson's history. I restored this when I got it from Gerry. The pickups are original with new covers and screws, the hardware is also new from 1998 and all Gibson Nickel finish. The electronics are all original. You can also have the signed art as well as the signed pic with the guitar to complete the set. It has a thin profile neck, a perfect refret, so no fretwear and plays beautiful if you just want it as a player. The finish is perfect. No scratches or wear. It was transparent cherry red when I bought it from Gerry. I should add that it's in its original case which is also in beautiful shape. One spring latch is missing that you see in the pic but doesn't affect the security of it. Typical of this era, it has a one piece Mahogany body, three piece maple cap and three piece Mahogany neck. Thanks for checking it out.
