This is a unique one. I purchased the guitar locally and was told it was a 1966, based on the guitar dater project website this guitar was made in 1966 (or 1969) at the Gibson Kalamazoo plant, not quite sure why the "or 1969" is in there but I thought it important to relay the information. The guitar plays and sounds like a dream and has lived in my smoke free studio for the last 10 years. It has well worn in flatwound strings and holds tune better than any of the other guitars and basses that I own (vintage or new). Now for the fine print. This is evidently a factory 2nd as is has a "2" stamped above the serial number on the back of the headstock. There is also a small crack on the back of the headstock that runs just underneath the tuner. I've had this checked out and was assured by a very experienced luthier that it is not structural and has no structural significance. Lastly, when I got the bass it had aftermarket tuners on it which required additional screw holes, those holes are not visible now that the original tuners are back on. These basses also have a "baritone switch", this one doesn't seem to effect the sound one way or the other so it may have been bypassed at some point in the past.  Once again, this is bass plays incredibly well and sounds fantastic. The bass will ship in an equally old and quite crusty non-original hardshell case.  Shipping to the lower 48 only.
