Hello, and thanks for dropping by. I saw this guitar at the 2013 NAMM Show and
fell in love. After trying it out and
talking to the exhibitor, I learned it was a brand new model and wasn’t
shipping yet. Then he dropped another
bomb on me: It wasn’t for sale in the
USA. Wait a minute; a Tele-style guitar
and you can’t buy it in the USA? That’s
just not fair. He did, however, put me
in touch with a UK reseller and after waiting about 5 months, they shipped it
to me. And it’s a darn fine guitar. I mean, why shouldn’t it be?
Fret-King is owned and run by Trev Wilkinson (inventor of the Wilkinson
vibrato), and the stuff he builds is just plain cool. And speaking of vibratos, check out this guitar's vibrato! Never seen one like it, it's another Wilkinson original. Wilkinson 2-stud pivot, with 3 compensated brass Tele-type saddles. Works and sounds killer.
And I figured I’d be keeping it for a good
long while, but unfortunately, the need for cash is going to prevent that. Never gigged with, this guitar has been to
one rehearsal and that’s about it. It’s
practically new. After playing it a
little, I concluded I needed more twang than the bridge humbucker was giving
me (I play in country bands, go figure), so I replaced it with a TV Jones Magnatron, which brightened it right up
and got the sound I liked. Then I got the wild idea of making it a real rock-n-roll guitar, so swapped that out for a Seymour Duncan SH-1. If you want the original pickup, I'll gladly include it (if I can find it). Comes in the Fret-King-logoed gig bag it shipped in. You need this guitar.
FREE UPS Ground (insured, of course) shipping to
the continental 48 United States, unless you want it sooner and want to pay for
UPS Red or Blue Label. I'll ship it elsewhere if you like, but you'll need to pay for that.
