Note: This uke’s skin head has developed a split so is currently unavailable as pictured.
This is a 1920’s unlabeled Harmony banjo uke. It was typical of the Harmony company to not label some of their banjos at this time.
This banjo uke is nicely designed and well made. The peghead shape and general styling resembles the Gibson 1920’s UB2. As well, the rim has a beefy thickness similar to those found on the Gibson ukes.
All the hardware is original, including the tuners which work very well. The neck and pot are made of a blond maple. The 8” head has a metal hoop tone ring that sits on the inside ledge of the rim giving it an archtop beveled-edge appearance. The hardware is very clean, with no missing parts. The vintage calf-skin head is in good shape, and properly tensioned for a great sound.
The instrument is in very good playable condition with no buzzing issues. The neck angle has been reset and the string spacing and string height adjusted. The instrument is strung with Aquila nygut strings.
Comes with a functional vintage case in worn condition (main latch works but end clasp is broken).
