Rare 1989 Fender Squier USA made Stratocaster
Hello. Up for sale is a nice Fender USA Strat. This is a Squire "Blackie" model that was made along side the other US models of the era.
To start with this guitar is clean and all original. It is lightweight at about 7.15 lbs. These models were made in the USA for a short time in the period around 89-90 or so.
As for features they are a cross between an American Standard and a '57 reissue. They have a solid alder body with the big cavity route. This model has the traditional 6 pin bridge and the truss rod adjusts at the heel like a '57 reissue. It also has a traditional four bolt neckplate with the serial number stamped on there. This guitar has a low serial number too, under 500. To top things off they also have maple cap neck which is a feature from the mid and later 1960s.
As a historical anecdote I toured Fender in 1989 in Corona to see about working there as an engineer. I saw the whole place, including the CNC machines where this body was cut out. I was given the tour by John Page.
There is a 1989 date stamped in the neck pocket of this guitar. Condition wise the guitar is very clean. It has some normal marks on the body but nothing major. This guitar is 26 years old now!
Great sound and playability with this guitar. These are interesting guitars and I'm pleasantly surprised with how cool it is.
If you want to buy it I will throw it some upgraded parts. I have a set of Fender USA vintage reissue pickups and a Fender USA vintage reissue Strat bridge. These guitars came with te Mexi style pickups and a smaller trem block.
Thanks for looking! I have a gig bag which I will include when I ship the guitar.
