1970 Fender Mustang Electric Guitar Sunburst Vintage USA

Here is a fine example of a vintage Fender Mustang. I have owned this guitar for five years. It’s such a joy to play and sounds amazing. I have only used it for recording purposes. This guitar is in excellent condition, no issues.

Made in 1970, serial number 299860, it’s all original including hardware, F tuners, single coil pickups and electronics. The pickups are very strong and sound fantastic. They seem more full sounding that other Mustangs that I’ve played. The neck pickup has a wonderful round rhythm tone, the bridge pick has a cool treble bite and of course you can get some funky, out of phase tones with the pick up selectors

The guitar weighs 7 lb. 2 oz. The neck is straight with great action. It's a thinner C style shape. The scale is 24 inches with 22 frets, nut is 1 7/16 inches.

The guitar was re-fretted by the previous owner with Fender style medium-thin frets and it plays superb, better than any other vintage Mustang I’ve come across. It’s great for rhythm and solos. There is a small metal shim under the saddle of the low E string. It was that way when I got the guitar and I left it in place because the action was so good.

Overall the guitar is in great condition but it does have some nicks, scratches and wear. However that’s all part of the character of a vintage guitar in my opinion. Sunburst finish looks good, some minor cracks in the poly which is typical of this era. There is some wear on the pick guard under the high E string.

I’ve played and owned a lot of vintage guitars through the years and this is one of the finest instruments I’ve come across. It would be a terrific addition to any collection.
