Conrad model 1245 c.a. 1965
Conrad guitars were made by Matsumoku and imported from Japan by David Wexler of Chicago IL. The body seems to be inspired by the Mustang / Jazzmaster / Jaguar shapes.
The guitar has a cherry finish with lots of bumps and rubs around the edges. The front is pretty clean but does have a weather crack in the finish behind the output jack (pictured). There is some crazing in the finish on the back.
The guitar plays well up the neck with no buzzing and the tuners are tight and hold tune well. The neck is fat and round and very comfortable and fits very tight in the neck pocket. Frets show very little wear.
The pickups used in this guitar were designed in house by Matsumoku. They sound great with strong output and meaty tone. The rocker switches are on-off switches for the pickups and are still tight and functional. There is a little bit of scratchiness when turning the pots. The extra slider switch is a “Hi-Lo” tone adjuster. Missing whammy bar. Set up with a new set of D'addario .10 gauge strings.
This is a solidly built guitar with some great vintage tones for very little money. No Case is included but it will be packed well to arrive to you safely.
