Direct from Japan is this gorgeous vintage classical guitar from the shop of Yasuo Abe! This guitar was supervised by Abe and has a stamp on the label. This 630mm scale length guitar is in great overall condition with just a few minor marks here and there with the worst being a 1” scratch in the top as shown in the pictures. Other than that just a few dings. The neck is perfect, action is excellent and tuners work great. Bridge is also in great shape with no evidence of lifting. I don’t know a reliable way to date this guitar precisely but I would conservatively say early 70’s, could also be late 60’s.
The tone is excellent, as you would expect from quality wood that has aged this long. Plays smooth and mellow with nice sustain and a very lightweight construction. Has a cool scalloped heel and the unique reversible nut that i have only ever seen on Zen-On’s top of the line Abe models. The nut can be flipped 180 degrees to change the string spacing, simply brilliant! 50mm nut width, 630mm scale length.
I left the strings on the guitar that it came with because they were unique and looked cool... with the black 4-6 strings. However, I will throw in a set of new nylon strings so you can change them if you don’t like them. Comes with a really nice hard foam case that is like new, lightweight, and comes with carrying straps.
Don’t miss out on this quality vintage instrument for a fraction of what you would pay for a modern one of similar quality! I spend a lot of time in Japan and every time I come across one of these Zen-On Abe guitars I buy it for my shop because you simply can’t beat the value of these vintage instruments!
