This Fender Custom Pink Plaid "Groundskeeper Willie" Precision Bass is Owned by Mark Hoppus.

Reverb has partnered with Mark Hoppus to auction off this custom pink plaid 2002-2003 Fender Custom Mark Hoppus Precision Bass Guitar from his personal collection.

Proceeds from the auction, which ends on July 8, will benefit The Trevor Project -- the leading organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people. Mark will also donate an additional $5,000 on top of the winning bid.

“We call this plaid bass Groundskeeper Willie. I wrote a great deal of the bass riffs for the [2003] untitled album on this bass. It has the sticker of the unicorn on there and the pink Famous Stars and Straps keychain that has been on here for the past decade and a half” Hoppus said of the bass guitar. “I’m auctioning it off to raise money for the Trevor Project, which is a great organization doing great work.”

Now -- to talk about the bass...

Serial: MZ2030816. Made in Mexico in 2002-2003. A fully custom production bass made specifically for Mark. Pink plaid finish with a single volume knob and Bass Lines high output pickups. Immediately you can feel the mojo with this instrument. It sounds exactly how you would want it to... Like Mark's signature bass tone.

Important to mention here the mutt-ness of this instrument. We have labeled it a precision because of the neck, headstock and pickup selection. The body is more in line with a J although still custom in its pick guard and control layout.

Ultimately this is a custom creation for Mark. An A-Bass. A Fender Custom Awesome Bass.

Bass is in pretty good shape. Some light dings around the body from live use. Some light marks on the neck starting at the 2nd fret and moving up to the 12th. Action is a little high. There is some mild relief in the neck. This badboy could stand to be set up by its new owner once it arrives. The back of the bass shows some light marks around the rear top.

Pickups have some light wear. Single volume knob is silent and turns clean. Dunlop strap locks have been installed. Famous stars and straps keychain is hanging from the headstock. Unicorn sticker has been adorned on the headstock. Neck plate simply reads MARK HOPPUS in all caps.

Many of the basslines on the untitled album were written on this bass. Was used for subsequent touring for many years. A legendary piece from Mark's collection.

Ships in its OHSC.
