EMS Synthi AKS *Soundgas Serviced*

One owner from new in 1972 – studio use only. In superb condition – has had a quiet life and been well looked after.

Our resident synth guru, James Walker, has been through it and performed minor service work to ensure that everything is working.

The synth is currently undergoing a full overhaul (some of the pots are showing their age and should be replaced). While this is taking place, the buyer has the option to specify any modifications they may require. The price quoted here is for a fully-overhauled EMS Synthi AKS; there will be an additional charge for modifications or upgrades beyond factory spec. We expect it will be ready by mid July.

This Synthi AKS will ship in excellent working order following a thorough overhaul and servicing.

Delivery time may depend on the service schedule and on the buyer’s choice of modifications.

While everything will be been done to ensure this synth is in excellent order functionally, this is a vintage Synthi and some occasional foibles may be expected. We take the view that servicing on these units should be sympathetic – recapping where necessary, but also keeping as many original parts in the audio path to retain character, even if it results in occasional minor flaws. A little noise may be possible from some pots when it’s not been used for a while, but this will clear with use.

These synths should be used regularly for best performance – just like a classic car or bike needs a run out to stay in good shape.

There are very few signs of age, and the synth is in superb condition for its age – some oxidation to the metal catches, handle bracket and hinges – no apparent significant marks, scratches or damage to the internal surfaces – a few scuffs to the exterior of the Spartanite case only.

The keyboard is very clean with minimal signs of wear or age. See photos for more information on cosmetic condition.
